My career as a helicopter pilot has taken me to remote places few people have the opportunity to experience, including years working along the Labrador coast and in some of northern Canada's most isolated environments. Photography became a way of documenting those places and the people, wildlife and operations encountered along the way.

Aviation also shaped the way I photograph. Working in environments where conditions change quickly taught me to anticipate rather than react—to pay attention to weather, movement, timing and what is happening beyond the obvious subject.

Away from aviation, that same curiosity has led me to photograph the ocean, wildlife, motorsport and everyday life. The subjects may be very different, but I'm drawn to many of the same things: a moment of action, unusual light, a human gesture, or an unexpected relationship between elements in a scene.

The photographs on this site are a selection of those observations from northern Canada, Mexico and elsewhere I've travelled—images of place, movement and the unexpected.
